The Challenge
In late 2021, Apple announced that it was launching Apple Pay in Bahrain. Our client, one of the leading banks in the region, decided to support Apple Pay wallet for its cards. To do that, our client needed a reliable partner with proven and certified interfaces to Apple Pay.Â
Our client chose D8 Corporation as a partner for this project, thanks to our proven track record of successful Apple Pay installations and our affordable price. Other selection criteria for our client were prior projects and certification with Mastercard MDES specifically.Â
D8 Corporation was chosen by our client in an open tender process among 3 other competitors. We delivered this project from start to finish in about 2 months, including end-to-end certification with Mastercard.Â
Solution We Offered
Launching Apple Pay integration is a rather trivial process, so we went with our standard solution for distributing tokens to third-party wallets.Â
We offered our standard solution for tokenizing Mastercard cards and delivering them to the Apple Wallet, based on our Tokenization Platform. For integration with Apple Wallet, the Tokenization Platform offers SDK for iOS to add in-app provisioning requests to third-party iOS mobile applications. Using in-app provisioning, iOS developers can add a button to their mobile apps for adding cards to Apple Wallet directly from the app.
Within this project, D8 Corporation supplied a Tokenization Platform core module for server-side SDK management and remote token management in the MDES server via API, and iOS SDK itself to be integrated into our client mobile banking app. The D8 Corporation team also provided full support during SDK integration and project end-to-end certification in Mastercard.
The Results
- Successfully launched Apple Pay
- One of the first to introduce in-app provisioning
